Nauri and Parawu Ina Visit Timor-Leste’ tells the wonderful story of the annual migration of Pygmy Blue Whales through the waters of Timor-Leste. From their breeding/calving grounds in the Banda Sea, to their journey through Timor-Leste’s waters, to their feeding grounds in the cool waters off southern Australia.

Timor-Leste’s waters, and particularly the narrow Ombai-Wetar Strait (along the country’s north coast) offer one of the best places in the world to view one of the largest animals on the planet.  The annual migration of the Pygmy Blue Whale is a story that every child and citizen of Timor-Leste should know.

With support from USAID’s 'Tourism for All' program, whale researchers and educators, 'Nauri and Parawu Ina Visit Timor-Leste' is a full-colour, bilingual (Tetun/English) national teaching/educational resource for primary and high schools in Timor-Leste.  The book includes educational activities and also, basic information on whales and dolphins in Timor-Leste's waters, including common species, biology and behaviour, as well as major threats, research and conservation efforts.
